Fencing Struggles at Home Meet this Weekend

Philadelphia, Pa.-- Temple Fencing struggled this weekend at the Owls' last home meet of the season. The Owls won to Cornell
19-8 but were outscored by Columbia 19-8, St. John's 17-0 and Penn State 24-3.
In the match against Cornell, the sabre team was outscored 4-5 while the foil squad won 8-1 and the epee squad won 7-2. In the
Owls' second contest against Columbia both the sabre and foil squad were outscored. The epee squad squeezed out a win 5-4 while
the sabre squad lost 2-7 and foil squad was defeated 1-8.
In the bout against St. John's, the foil squad had a successful competition
outscoring the red storm 6-3 while the sabre and epee squads were both beat 2-7. National power Penn State ousted the Owls in
all three weapons. Sabre was outscored 1-8, while foil was outscored 0-9 and epee 2-7.
The Owls will compete in the NIWFA Championships on Saturday, March 4 in Madison, N.J. at 8:00 a.m.
