Philadelphia--(March 17) The Temple baseball team dropped its home-opener to Lehigh, 8-6, on Thursday at Erny Field. The Owls were led by Sam Sabolchick who went 3-for-5 with three RBIs.

Temple centerfielder Bob Filler went 3-for-4 with one RBI. The Mountain Hawks were led by Pat Hollander who went a perfect 4-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. With the game tied, 4-4, in the seventh, Lehigh exploded for four runs to take an 8-4 lead. The Owls managed to cut the lead to 8-6 but could get no closer. The loss drops the Owls to 0-10-2 on the season. Lehigh improves to 3-2.
