Volleyball Wins First Two Matches in Temple Tournament; Faces Ohio State in Finale

PHILADELPHIA - After brushing off Colgate three games to none in the opening
match of the Temple Tournament, the Owls swept Seton Hall to conclude day
one.
In the match against the Pirates, the Owls were paced by senior Alma
Kovaci, Temple's All-America candidate and the reigning Atlantic 10 Conference
Player of the Year. Kovaci posted 19 kills and 11 digs against Seton Hall as
Temple won 15-6, 15-11 and 15-8 in their second match of the day.
Also key in
victory for the Owls were seniors Teresa Schumacher (35 assists) and Brandy
Best (10 kills and 12 digs) as Temple moved its match record to 2-0 on the
season.
Seton Hall was led in kills by Jackie Neely (7) and assists by Beth
Lawlor (21).
The Temple Tournament concludes tomorrow with three matches,
with Temple facing perennial Big 10-powerhouse Ohio State in the finale of
the round robin.
