Volleyball Falls in Temple Tournament Finale

PHILADELPHIA - Day two of the Temple Tournament did not yield the outcome
the Owls expected as they lost in the finale to Ohio State three games
to one. After losing the first game 15-2, Temple roared back to win the
second game 15-10. The Owls then dropped the third game of the match 15-5
before losing game four 15-11. The loss drops Temple's match record to 2-1
on the season.
Temple did place two players on the all-tournament team: seniors Brandy
Best and Alma Kovaci. Best recorded eight kills and nine digs in the
finale while Kovaci posted 22 kills and 8 digs. Also noteworthy in defeat
was senior Teresa Schumacher who totaled 52 assists for the match. Ohio
State's attack was paced by Dana Stearns (17 kills, 6 digs) and
tournament MVP, Katie Virtue (65 assists).
Listed below is the full
all-tournament team. The Owls must fly west to take on Long Beach
State on September 7th before playing in the USC MetRx Invitational on
September 8th. Temple then must play five more matches on the road before
returning to Owl Country on September 29 to begin Atlantic 10 Conference
play against Dayton.
