Temple Volleyball Battles No. 2 Long Beach State

Long Beach, Calif. - The Owls saw their season match record fall to 2-2 with a road loss to the second ranked team in the nation, Long Beach State, three games to one.
Temple had a fast start in the match, winning the first game 15-8 but then the tide turned toward the beach as Long Beach State won the final three games, 15-3, 15-8, 15-2 to take the match. Senior All-America candidate, Alma Kovaci, led the Owls' attack with 16 kills and 10 digs.
Junior Christine Happel added 9 kills and sophomore Solana Lee dished out 31 assists. The 49ers were paced by junior All-American Cheryl Weaver with 17 kills and Elisha Thomas (12 kills, 6 blocks).
The Owls won't be lacking competition as they continue their road trip with matches against Texas - San Antonio at the USC MetRx Invitational (Today at 1:00 p.m. Eastern), the No. 8 USC Trojans (Tonight at 9:00 p.m. Eastern), No. 9 Pepperdine (September 9th at 10:00 p.m. Eastern) before finishing their western excursion next weekend with matches at Utah (Friday, September 15) and at 17th ranked BYU (Saturday, September 16).
