PHILADELPHIA -- Temple defeated Penn in field hockey 1-0 on Wednesday, afternoon at Temple's Geasey Field. The win raises the Owls' record 6-7, and 0-1in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Temple senior goalkeeper April Herman (Lancaster, Pa/Conestoga Valley) recorded her first shutout of the season.

Senior Virginia Gonzalez (Reading, Pa./Twin Valley) scored the Owls' lone goal on a penalty corner with 31:48 remaining in the first half. The goal was assisted by Junior Emily Moyer (Dresher, Pa/Upper Dublin) and sophomore Haley Dervinis (Larksville, Pa./Wyoming Valley West).

The Temple defense allowed Penn only two shots in the second half. Temple net minder April Herman stopped all nine of the Quakers shots. Penn's sophomore goalkeeper had eight saves.

Temple (6-7,0-1,A-10) will visit Richmond in A-10 action on Saturday, afternoon at 1p.m.
