Owls will compete in three matches and take part in several cultural experiences May 11-18
PHILADELPHIA – The Temple University field hockey team will travel to the Netherlands from May 11-18 for an international tour that will include three competitions, team-building opportunities and cultural experiences throughout the country.
"We're so excited for this opportunity to go to the Netherlands," said Temple field hockey head coach Michelle Vittese. "Playing three competitions against Dutch players will be an incredible experience for our team, and the cultural and team-building activities will make this trip even more meaningful."
"This is a special opportunity for our student-athletes to grow together, experience the game in one of the world's premier field hockey countries and create memories that will last a lifetime," continued Vittese. "We believe the trip will have a strong impact on our fall season."
In addition to the three competitions, the Owls will have opportunities to explore Amsterdam and experience Dutch culture through several activities, including a Delft Blue tile painting workshop, a team stroopwafel-making lesson, leisure time in Gouda and a bike ride through the Dutch countryside to a women's Dutch League semifinal match.
Funding for the trip was provided by the Anne Volp Field Hockey Endowment and the Ann McKernan Robinson Endowed Field Hockey Fund.
