DAYTON FLYS PAST THE OWLS

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple volleyball team (16-8, 7-5) lost to Atlantic 10 Conference leader Dayton (18-4, 11-1) three games to none on Friday, November 2 at the Liacouras Center. The game scores were 31-33, 28-30 and 13-30 for the Flyers who out-hit the Owls .306 to .156.

Sophomores Yun Xu (14 kills, 12 digs) and Yamit Haba (13 kills, 14 digs) led the Temple attack. Junior setter Solana Lee tallied 36 assists in the match to raise her season total to a career-high 1,030. But this night belonged to Dayton, as the visitors out-hit, out-blocked and outscored the home team.

Xinxin Zhang (12 kills), Christine Utnage (11 kills, 10 digs), Erin Treadway (10 kills, nine digs, four blocks) and Katie Ferriell (10 digs, five blocks) led the way for Dayton. Kelly Scott had a match-high 38 assists for the Flyers.

The Owls continue their homestand with another key conference match this weekend. On Saturday, November 3, Xavier, the Atlantic 10 Conference's number two team, comes to town for a match beginning at 4:00 p.m. The match will also be played at the Liacouras Center.
