2.6.01 | Women's Volleyball

PHILADELPHIA (Feb. 6) - Senior outside hitter Alma Kovaci was named honorable mention on Volleyball Magazine's 2000 All-America team. Kovaci recorded 600 kills during the 2000 season and finished her career with 2,046 kills to rank second on Temple's all-time list in that category. Kovaci is the Owls' all-time digs leader with 1,632 digs.

Kovaci helped Temple post a 20-11 record in 2000. She led the team in attempts (1,403), kills (600), digs (388) and hitting percentage (.282). Although Temple fell short in its quest for a fourth straight Atlantic 10 title, Kovaci had several noteworthy performances, including:

Seven matches with 30 or more kills

Three-time Atlantic 10 Player of the Week

Member of the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Team

Member of the Atlantic 10 All-Tournament Team

"Alma is not only the most talented player I've ever played with, she also plays with the most heart," said teammate Solana Lee. The combination of Kovaci's heart and talent earned her this national recognition.
