Owls Drop Doubleheader To Cal Poly

Skips Wilson's club (0-11) is still in search of their first victory of the
season after dropping a doubleheader to Cal Poly (11-5) at San Luis Obispo
Stadium.
GAME # 10 - MARCH 7, 2001
This time it was two. That's two big five-run innings by Cal Poly (10-5)
that sent the Owls to their 10th straight loss (0-10) at the hands of the
Mustangs.
After the Owls had taken a 4-2 lead in the top of the fourth, Cal Poly
responded with back-to-back five run innings to dispose of Skip Wilson's club,
14-6, in the first game of a doubleheader.
In the Owls fourth, catcher Jeff Roma knocked in two runs with a double and
sophomore Cap Poklemba also doubled, plating Roma. Joe Lyall would follow with
a single capping the four run fourth inning.
Senior Greg Powell (0-2) took the loss for the Owls while Quinn McGinnis
(2-1) got credit for the victory.

GAME # 11 - MARCH 7, 2001
Cal Poly ran their winning streak to seven games handing the Temple Owls
their 11th straight loss, 7-2, in the second game of a doubleheader at San
Luis Obispo.
Each team scored single runs in the first and third innings, but Cal Poly
pushed a run across in the fourth and added four more in the fifth to sweep
the doubleheader and the three-game series against the Owls.
Temple could muster just five hits while Cal Poly pounded out 15 hits,
including two home runs by first baseman, Scott Sheldon.
Senior Chris Krusen, who came into the doubleheader leading the Owls in
hitting at .423 (11-26), went hitless in both games. Alan Birnbrauer (0-3)
took the loss for the Owls, while Greg Bochy (2-0) got the win.
The Owls continue their west coast road trip with single games against Cal
State Northridge on Thursday and Friday and then come home to begin play
closer to home.
