Temple Bats Continue To Burn, Beat Drexel, 20-7

Skip Wilson's club (10-16, 5-1) continues to batter opposing pitching,
defeating Drexel (4-18), 20-7, on a sunny afternoon at Drexel Field.
GAME # 26 - APRIL 5, 2001 vs. DREXEL
Senior third baseman Kyle Sweppenhiser homered twice and junior first
basaeman Rob Cucinotta once to headline an 18-hit assault as the Owls (10-16,
5-1) defeated Drexel, 20-7, in a non-league game at Drexel Field.
Sweppenhiser, who went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and four RBI,
launched two-run shots in the seventh and eighth innings for Temple, which won
for the 10th time in their last 12 games. Cucinotta (2-for-5, 2 runs, 2 RBI)
had a two-run shot in the fourth.
Junior outfielder Joe Lyall was 4-for-5 with 3 RBI for the hot-hitting
Owls. Sophomore right-hander Mike Caron, who entered the game in the second
inning with the Owls trailing 6-1, pitched two-hit ball over the final seven
and two-thirds for his second win (2-3).
Temple came from behind with four runs in the third inning to cut Drexel's
lead to 6-5, then plated three in the fourth and fifth and six in the seventh
to blow the game open.
