Baseball Pitching Record Falls

Senior Greg Powell broke an individual pitching record when he started his
16th game of the year when he pitched a masterful five-hit ten-inning
complete game in Temple's opening round 3-2 victory over the No. 2 seed
Dayton in Lake Buena Vista, Florida on Thursday, May 17th. The game catapulted
the Owls into the winners bracket of the Atlantic 10 Baseball Championship
and really gave the No. 3 seed Owls the lift they needed after falling behind
2-0 after one inning. Powell would allow only two hits the rest of the way
while striking out 11 and walking just one.
Powell broke the record held by Doug Bossert, who started 15 games in
1999. The first-team all-Atlantic 10 pitcher was just unhitable from the
second inning on, retiring 13 in a row during one stretch.
