Robert Leite-Young Receives Outstanding Rookie Award at A-10 Championships

Troy, OH - Temple freshman Robert Leite-Young was named the league's
outstanding rookie at the 2001 Verizon Atlantic 10 Conference Outdoor Track &
Field Championships held May 5 - 6 at Troy Memorial Stadium hosted by the
University of Dayton. Leite-Young was victorious in both the triple and long
jumps (14.25m, 6.64m).
The men placed fifth overall at the competition with a combined score of 63.
Freshman Bryant Adams finished third in the 400-meter dash with a time of
48.74. In the 1,500-meter run, Graduate student Robert Lythgoe came in third
(3:53.82). Junior Tracey Champion placed third in the 110-meter high hurdles
posting a time of 15.78.
Freshman Kevin Kelly finished third in the pole vault with a height of 4.20m.
Freshmen Jason Forbes and Craig Henry placed fourth and ninth in the long jump
(6.53m, 6.30m) and fourth and eighth in the triple jump (13.66m, 13.14m). In
the 4 x 400-meter relay, the Owls came in fourth with a time of 3:18.26.
The men will compete next week at the James Madison Invitational on May 12 -
13.
