Under veteran coaches Nikki Franke (29th year) and Zoila Palacio (11th year), the Owls reeled off 16 consecutive dual-match wins and successfully defended its NIWFA Championship for a fourth consecutive year ... At the NIWFA Championship Meet, Temple won all three weapons in a competition attended by 15 teams ... The Owls ranked ninth in the nation heading into the NCAA Tournament ... The team qualified as a team to the NCAA Mid-Atlantic and South Regional Meet ... From that competition, five team members earned advancement to the NCAA Championship Finals, held at the University of Wisconsin (Parkside Campus, Kenosha, WI): seniors Jamie Beecher and Gena DeIeso (foil); junior Julia Korony and freshman Sara Forsythe (epee) and sophomore Sakinah Shaahid (sabre) ... In the NCAAs, the Owls posted a strong seventh-place finish, two positions higher than their pre-tournament ranking ... Beecher was among just 11 athletes nationally to be named to the NIFWA Academic All-America Team.
