2001 Season Review in Brief
8.1.01 | Men's Crew
The Owls produced another outstanding season under veteran head coach Gavin White ... The Owls' varsity eight won five of the seven regattas in which it was entered and finished the season as the nation's No. 13 ranked team ... Those first-place finishes included the Knecht Cup (Cooper River, Camden, NJ); George Washington Crew Classic (Potomac River, Washington, D.C.); Murphy Cup (Schuylkill River, Philadelphia); Georgetown Invitational for Big East Schools (Potomac River, Washington, D.C.); and a 13th-straight Dad Vail Regatta (Schuylkill River, Philadelphia) ... In the San Diego Crew Classic versus a national field and the best teams in the west, the Owls finished seventh ... At the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Regatta (national championships) held on the Cooper River in Camden, the Owls finished 13th, equal to their national rank upon entry ... The second varsity eight or "junior varsity boat" also collected three first-place finishes during the season.
