Former Temple Pitcher, Greg Powell, Signs With Astros

Former Temple pitcher, Greg Powell, has signed a free agent contract with
the Houston Astros after a stint with the River City Rascals of the Frontier
League.
The Holland, Pa. native was a first-team all-Atlantic 10 Conference
selection in his senior year at Temple. His 6-1 Atlantic 10 record was
instrumental in leading the Owls to their first Atlantic 10 Championship and
2001 NCAA Tournament appearance since 1984.
Prior to signing with the Astros, Powell has a 4-2 record at River City
with a 3.09 ERA in eight starts.
Powell will report to the Pittsfield Astros to play in the shortened Class
A league.
