OWLS FENCE THEIR WAY TO VICTORY AT NORTHWESTERN MULTI-MEET

The foil squad went a combined 7-3 including wins over Wayne State, Detroit, Lawrence, Cleveland, UNC, Fairleigh Dickinson and John's Hopkins. Senior Stefanie Izzolino led the squad with an overall 14-6 record. Sophomore Nerita Brumell contributed an 11-6 record including the winning touch against fencing rival Northwestern. Newcomers Jeanne Browne finished with a 7-8 record, Nnenna Okoro posted an 8-3 record and Katrina Najm finished 7-7.
The sabre squad finished 9-1 overall with sophomore Sakinah Shaahid leading all Temple fencers with a 19-4 record. Aziza Hassan also contributed to the Owls impressive finish by compiling a 17-7 record with undefeated matches against Wayne State, Detroit, Lawrence and UNC. Senior Sara Ironman posted a 14-6 record including four undefeated matches against Wayne State, Lawrence, Cleveland and UNC. Junior Nicole Macomber finished with a 2-4 record while freshman Amanda Gerwer finished with 3-5 record.
The epee squad went a combined 7-3 overall with senior Julia Korony leading the squad with a record of 16-7. Sophomore Sara Forsythe posted a 14-9 record while going undefeated against Lawrence Cleveland and Fairleigh Dickinson. Fellow sophomore Stephanie Sargent finished with a 13-11 record with undefeated matches against Detroit, Cleveland and Fairleigh Dickinson. Freshman Kera Luckhardt rounded out the squad and posted a 4-5 record.
Next up for the Owls is the North American Cup on January 19-20 in South Bend, Indiana.
