WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL TO PLAY MANHATTAN IN FIRST ROUND OF NCAA TOURNAMENT

Under the direction of eight-year Head Coach and Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year Bob Bertucci, the Cherry and White will be making their fourth trip to the NCAA Tournament. The Owls also made the trip in 1997, 1998 and 1999 but lost in the first round on all three occasions.
"This is the best first round draw we have ever had," said Bertucci. "This was critical, especially with how well we have been playing lately."
Overall, the Owls are 27-6 and 13-1 in the Atlantic 10. Two weeks ago, Temple defeated Xavier and George Washington to win the 2002 Atlantic 10 Volleyball Championship. During the A-10 Tournament, outside hitter Xu Yun was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Year, setter Alison Runk was named Atlantic 10 Setter of the Year, outside hitter Yamit Haba was named to the All-Conference team and Bertucci was named Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year.
