BRUMELL TAKES GOLD AS TEMPLE FENCING COMPETES AT THE NIWFA CHRISTMAS INVITATIONAL

MADISON, N.J. The Temple University women's fencing team got an early Christmas present when they competed at the NIWFA Christmas Invitational on December 8, 2002 at Drew University. Junior Nerita Brumell led the Owls and brought home the gold as she took first place in the foil competition.
In the epee competition, Stephanie Sargent and Katrina Najm led the way as they took second and third place respectively. Sophomore Kera Luckhardt rounded out the epee squad, placing 25th.
The entire foil squad finished in the top ten in the competition. Along with Brumell's success, sophomore Jeanne Browne placed third while freshman Mary Ann Forsythe placed sixth and sophomore Nenna Okoro placed eighth.
Senior Nicole Macomber led the way for the sabre squad with a sixth place finish while sophomore Amanda Gerwer finished 13th. Freshman Keri Ecker placed 15th.
Next up for the Owls is the annual Alumnae Meet on January 5, 2002. The meet begins at 1:00 p.m.
