OWLS CAPTURE THREE WINS AT TRI-MEET

PHILADELPHIA -- Capping off their second straight undefeated weekend, the Temple University women's fencing team (14-2) defeated Hollins University 26-1, John Hopkins 24-3 and Steven's Institute of Technology 23-4.

The Epee squad was led by sophomores Stephanie Sargent and Sara Forsythe who went 8-0 and 7-1 respectively. Senior Julia Korony went 3-0 on the day boosting her overall record to 24-8. Rounding out the squad was freshman Kera Luckhardt who registered a 3-2 record.

Four out of the five members of the Foil squad including Jeanne Browne (6-0), Nerita Brumell (4-0), Stefanie Izzolino (4-0) and Katrina Najm (4-0) went undefeated in the tri-meet. Freshman Nnenna Okoro rounded out the squad with a 5-1 record.

Junior Nicole Macomber (4-0) and sophomores Aziza Hassan (3-0) and Sakinah Shaahid (3-0) led the way for the Sabre squad each going undefeated in their respective bouts. Senior Sara Ironmen added a 7-1 record while freshman Amanda Gerwer went 3-2 on the day.

Next up for the Owls is a cross-town meeting with the Penn Quakers on February 8, 2002
