UCF USES 10 WALKS IN GAINING 9-5 WIN OVER THE OWLS

The Golden Knights (9-10) also received six solid innings of relief pitching by Von David Stertzbach.
Central Florida opened the scoring with three first inning run without the benefit of a base hit off starting pitcher, Harley Nager. The Knights received four consecutive walks and a hit batsman to push a couple of runs across. The third run scored on a double-play grounder.
The Owls came back in the top of the second. Three singles and a walk tied the game up at three. The Owls took their first and only lead of the game in the fourth inning when designated hitter, Keith Ramsey homered to right. Stertzbach entered the contest and shut down the Owls.
UCF scored two runs in the fifth helped out by a pair of walks off loser Brandon Bruno (0-1). They added two more runs in the seventh, which were their first two runs of the game scored off a hit, and added two more in the eighth.
The Owls put up a scare in the ninth by scoring a run and loading the bases with no outs. Unfortunately, Clint Wells got one out on a strikeout and Zach Dixon came on to get a foul out and a fly to right to close out the game.
For the Owls, first baseman Sam Sabolchick went 3-for-5 with three runs batted in and freshman third baseman, Mike Weckenman also had three hits. Leadoff batter, Joe Lyall also chipped in with a pair of hits.
