OWLS CROWNED NIWFA CHAMPIONS; SWEEP INDIVIDUAL WEAPON FINALS

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple University women's fencing team (18-5) was crowned National Intercollegiate Women's Fencing Association (NIWFA) Team Champions yesterday, March 3 at Temple University. Along with the team award, senior Stefanie Izzolino was crowned 2002 NIWFA Foil Champion and sophomore Sakinah Shaahid was crowned 2002 NIWFA Sabre Champion. For the third year in a row, senior Julia Korony was named NIWFA Epee Champion.

Next up for the Owls is the NCAA Eastern Regional Qualifiers on March 9, 2002 followed by the NCAA Championships on March 21-24, 2002
