TEMPLE MEN'S VARSITY EIGHT WINS 15TH ANNUAL GEORGE WASHINGTON CREW CLASSIC FOR THIRD STRAIGHT YEAR

PHILADELPHIA -- For the third consecutive year, the Temple University men's varsity eight crew took first place at the George Washington Crew Classic that was held this past weekend, April 13, 2002 on the Potomac River.
The Cherry and White finished the 2000 meter course with a time of 5:47.9 --two seconds ahead of runner-up Georgetown and took home the Oliver T. Carr bowl awarded to the fastest men's heavyweight eight. Temple's men's second varsity eight crew took fourth place in the final with a time of 6:12.7 while the varsity four placed fourth with a time of 6:58.5.
Next up for the Owls is the Murphy Cup, their first and only home race this season, this Saturday, April 20 at 11:00 a.m.
