OWLS WOMEN'S FENCING GOES UNDEFEATED IN HOME MULTI MEET

PHILADELPHIA--After grabbing victories from Rutgers University 15-12, Hunter College 26-1, James Madison 26-1 and Fairleigh Dickinson 21-6, the Temple University women's fencing team (13-1) went undefeated in their final home meet of the season this afternoon, January 26 at McGonigle Hall.

Junior Sara Forsythe led the epee squad and the team with an impressive 10-2 record while junior Stephanie Sargent went 9-3 on the day. Sophomore Katrina Najm rounded out the epee squad with a 6-6 record.

Freshman Jenna Remmert and sophomore Jeanne Browne led the foil squad with 8-0 and 7-0 records respectively. Junior Nerita Brumell also turned in a stellar performance with a 7-1 record. Freshman Maryanne Forsythe went 4-0 on the day while sophomore Nnenna Okoro had a 6-1 record. The entire foil squad combined for a 32-2 record, losing just two bouts throughout the day.

In Sabre action, senior Nicole Macomber led the way with a 7-1 record while senior Sakinah Shaahid and junior Aziza Hassan turned in identical records of 6-1. Sophomore Amanda Gerwer rounded out the sabre squad with a 6-3 record.

The Cherry and White are back in action next weekend, February 1, 2003 when they face Steven's, Haverford and Johns Hopkins at 12:00 p.m. The meet will be held at Steven's Institute in Hoboken, N.J.
