PENN SNAPS TEMPLE'S STREAK WITH 2-1 WIN

PHILADELPHIA, PA.-- The Temple field hockey team was defeated 2-1 by Penn on Wednesday afternoon at Geasey Field. The Quakers' Liz Lorelli scored the winner with 2:00 minutes remaining off a pass from Kristen Gray. The win improves the Quakers' record to 7-4, 2-1 in the Ivy League, while the loss snapped Temple's three-game win streak, the Owls now sport a record of 7-7 and 2-0 in A-10 play.

After a scoreless first half Temple's Haley Dervinis opened the scoring on an unassisted goal at the 29 minute mark of the second half.

Penn's Marianne Rogers scored off a pass from Lorelli to tie the score 1-1 with 16:40 remaining. Rogers' goal snapped the Owl's scoreless streak at 282 minutes. Lorelli followed with the winner at the two minute mark lifting the Quakers to the win.

Owls goalie Erin Conroy's scoreless streak was broken at 270 minutes. She had six saves in the contest. Penn keeper Liz Schlossberg recorded 12 saves.

Temple out-shot Penn 13-12 and held a slim 6-5 advantage in penalty corners.

The Owls (7-7, 2-0) will host a pair of local A-10 Conference foes this weekend in La Salle and West Chester. Temple will meet La Salle on Saturday and West Chester on Sunday, both games start at noon.
