VOLLEYBALL: TEMPLE PREVAILS AT XAVIER 3-1

CINCINNATI, OH - The Temple volleyball team survived a tough four-game match over Xavier, three games to one, on October 3 at the Cintas Center. The game scores were 30-24, 27-30, 30-27 and 32-30.

Senior outside hitter Xu Yun, led the Owls attack with a match-high 19 kills while also posting 13 digs for a double-double. Fellow senior Yamit Haba, (18 kills, 12 digs) who also had a double-double was the only other Owl to record double-digit kill numbers. Junior setter Alison Runk dished out a match-high 61 assists for Temple.

Kate Duchek (17 kills) led the Musketeers and was one of five Xavier players to record double figures in kills. Astyn Bjorklund (13 kills) had a match-high nine blocks and Marisa Main (10 kills) had 51 assists for the Musketeers.

The team hitting percentages were about as close as the match as Xavier hit .280 while Temple hit .290.

The Owls, who improved to 5-6 overall and 2-0 in Atlantic 10 Conference play, continue their march through Ohio with a match at Dayton on October 4 at 5:00 p.m. Xavier falls to 5-9 overall and 0-1 in the Atlantic 10.
