VOLLEYBALL: OWLS FALL TO FLYERS, 3-1 TO END OHIO ROAD TRIP

Dayton, Ohio - The Temple volleyball team lost its first conference match of the season to Dayton, three games to one on October 4 at the Frericks Center. The game scores were 32-30, 24-30, 24-30 and 15-30.

Senior outside hitter Xu Yun led a balanced Owls attack as she was one of three Temple players to post a double-double with 16 kills and 16 digs. Fellow seniors Yamit Haba (16 kills, 11 digs) and Liu Shu (12 kills, 11 digs) also had double-doubles and senior Charity Hill added 12 kills. Junior setter Alison Runk dished out a match-high 58 assists in defeat.

Erin Treadway led Dayton with a match-high 19 kills. Faye Barhorst added 10 kills and 10 digs for the Flyers lone double-double and setter Nicole Schott had 30 assists.

A key statistic in this match was blocking as Dayton recorded 18 blocks while Temple managed just six. Ironically, the Owls won the opening game of the match on a block by Hill. The Flyers also out-hit Temple .282 to .195. With the win, Dayton improved to

The Owls, who are now 5-7 overall and 2-1 in the Atlantic 10, will next travel to Kingston, Rhode Island on Friday, October 10 to face the Rams of Rhode Island University. Match time is 7:00 p.m.
