VOLLEYBALL ENDS ATLANTIC 10 REGULAR SEASON WITH A 3-0 SWEEP OF GEORGE WASHINGTON

Washington, D.C. - The Temple volleyball team won its 13th consecutive match with a three games to none sweep of George Washington on November 15 at the Smith Center. The game scores were 30-28, 30-25 and 30-23. Temple has now won 19 of its last 21 matches.

Senior outside hitter Yamit Haba led the Owls with a match-high 16 kills and added 17 digs for a double-double. Fellow seniors Xu Yun (12 kills), Liu Shu (11 kills, 10 digs) and Margaret Majewska (match-high 21 digs) were also key components to the Temple victory. Junior setter Alison Runk dished out a match-high 44 assists for the Owls.

Ruth Lazzari (15 kills, 13 digs) led George Washington. Setter Lauren Dunning had 29 assists for the Colonials.

Temple, which improved to 19-7 overall and 13-1 in Atlantic 10 Conference play, hit .217 while George Washington fell to 21-9 and 8-6 in the A-10. Due to scheduled Atlantic 10 Tournament host, Rhode Island falling out of contention, Temple, the top seed, will host the Atlantic 10 Tournament beginning November 21 at McGonigle Hall. Match times will soon be announced.
