FENCING FINISHES 7-3 IN FIRST TEAM COMPETITION OF THE SEASON

PHILADELPHIA - Senior Sara Forsythe led the Temple fencing team to a 7-3 record at the Northwestern Multi-Meet in Evanston, Illinois, this weekend. Forsythe finished the two-day competition with an overall record of 19-3 in epée action helping the Owls to victories over Detroit 24-3, Wayne State 21-6, Cleveland State 24-3, Michigan 22-5, UNC 17-10, Lawrence 27-0 and FDU 23-4.

Also in epée, senior Stephanie Sargent finished with a 14-8 record while sophomore Keri Ecker and newcomer Rachel Eschenbach ended the meet with records of 7-13 and 8-6 respectively.

Newcomer Leigh Adel-Arnold led the way for the foil squad, going a perfect 10-0 over the two-day event. Senior Nerita Brumell posted a 10-9 record while junior Jeanne Browne finished with a record of 10-7. Sophomores Jenna Remmert and Maryanne Forsythe rounded out the foil action with records of 17-3 and 14-2 for the weekend.

Senior Aziza Hassan led the sabre squad in wins with a record of 14-6 while junior Nnennaya Okoro finished the meet with a 12-14 record. Newcomers Lauren Riesebeck and Kaitlyn White finished the weekend with records of 13-13 and 8-4 respectively.

The Owls will next compete in the Penn State Open in State College, Pa. Nov. 22-23.
