TWO TEMPLE FENCERS REACH SEMIFINALS OF PENN STATE OPEN

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Seniors Aziza Hassan and Sara Forsythe led the Temple University fencing team with a team high ninth place finish in sabre and epée respectively at the Penn State Open on November 23.
Sophomore Jenna Remmert led the way for the foil squad finishing the meet with a semifinal appearance and an 11th place finish. Junior Jeanne Browne placed 19th while senior Nerita Brumell and sophomore Maryanne Forsythe placed 25th and 27th respectively.
Forsythe was the lone semifinalist for the epée squad while senior Stephanie Sargent placed 19th. Freshman Rachel Eschenbach and sophomore Keri Ecker rounded out the epée action, placing 25th and 33rd respectively.
Freshman Lauren Riesebeck and Junior Nennaya Okoro joined Hassan in sabre action. Riesebeck placed 18th while Okoro finished 22nd.
The Owls next compete in the NIWFA Christmas Invitational on Sunday, December 7 beginning at 9:00 a.m.
