OWLS END SPRING TRIP WITH DOUBLEHEADER LOSS TO SOUTH ALABAMA

South Alabama (13-7) overcame a 5-2 fifth inning deficit in the first game, scoring a pair of runs in the sixth and eighth innings while added a four spot in the home seventh to make a winner out of reliever Adam Wood (1-0). Starter Mike Caron (Yardley, Pa/Pennsbury) (0-2) went six innings for the Owls allowing seven runs, six of which were earned.
The Owls had a season-high 16 hits, led by second baseman Mike Silverman (Owings Mills, Md/McDonogh)and center fielder John Quigley (Bensalem, Pa/Bensalem) who had three hits apiece.
In the second game, South Alabama jumped on Owls starter Brian Ursone (0-3) (Collingdale,Pa/Monsignor Bonner) for four runs in the first inning and reliever Eric Filson (Folsom, PA/Ridley) for three taking a 7-1 lead after the initial frame. Josh Touchstone extended his hitting streak to 19 games for the winners while the Owls got a pair of hits from Jason Conner (Norristown, Pa/Kennedy Kendrick), Rob Cucinotta (Drexel Hill, Pa/Monsignor Bonner), Quigley and Andrew Clemens (Lansdale, Pa/North Penn). One of Cucinotta's hits was a home run, the lone long ball hit in the second game for the Owls.
Weather and field conditions permitting, Skip Wilson's club will play its first home game of the season on Tuesday afternoon at Erny Field against Bucknell at 3:00 p.m.
