3.9.03 | Baseball
The Privateers ((10-6) took a 2-0 lead after one inning and held the Owls (0-5) hitless over the first five and two-third innings to win the second game of a three-game series. New Orleans got a pair of hits from Joe Pietro and Mike Rohde while Justin Guy stole a career-high three bases and scored a pair of runs. The Owls got two hits and an RBI off the bat of Gene Burpoe (Arlington, Va/Wakefield).
Once again, pitching coach Rob Kell received a strong effort from his pitching staff. Senior Brian Ursone (Collingdale, Pa/Monsignor Bonner)pitched five innings for the Owls, allowing just two earned runs and four hits while picking up his second loss (0-2) of the young season. Freshman Tim Foulkrod (Cheltenham, Pa/Cheltenham) came on in relief and pitched the final three innings. The right-hander allowed one earned run on just three hits.
The Owls finish up the three-game series on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. and then take a day off on Monday before taking on Southern Mississippi on Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m.
