The New Orleans Privateers stretched its winning streak to eight games and completed a three-game sweep of the Temple Owls with an 8-4 victory at Maestri Field on Sunday afternoon.

The Privateers (11-6) used a 13-hit attack in defeating the winless Owls (0-6). Right fielder Brad Domreis led the home team with two hits, including a grand slam home run in the seventh to break the game wide open. Al Roach (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) was one of three Owls who collected a pair of hits, including a solo home run in the sixth inning when the Owls battled back to tie the score at 4-4. The Owls also got a pair of hits from catcher Jeff Roma (Endicott, N.Y./Union-Endicott) and third baseman Mike Weckenman (Newtown, PA/Council Rock).

Senior right hander Mike Caron (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) (0-1) took the loss for the Owls. Caron went seven innings before being relieved by Justin Mendek (Blackwood, NJ/Gloucester Catholic), who pitched a scoreless eighth inning.

The Owls found themselves trailing, 4-2, in the sixth when they tied the game. Following a solo home run by Roach, center fielder John Quigley (Bensalem, Pa/Bensalem) was hit by a pitch and stole second. Roma followed with a double to right field to plate Quigley.

The Privateers broke the game open in the home seventh. A single to center and two infield singles set the stage for Domries' grand slam home run following an infield pop out.

After an off day on Monday, the Owls take on Southern Mississippi on Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m.
