BASEBALL WEEKEND SERIES WITH MASSACHUSETTS PUSHED BACK TO SUNDAY AND MONDAY
4.25.03 | Baseball
With the weather forecast once again calling for rain on Saturday, both coaches have agreed to push back the important series to Sunday and Monday.
Massachusetts (8-4), leading the Eastern Division of the Atlantic 10, currently have a one and one-half game lead over second place Rhode Island (9-6) and St. Bonaventure (6-5) and a two-game lead over fourth place Temple (6-6).
The Owls are coming off an 8-7 win at Delaware on Wednesday. Junior John Quigley (Bensalem, Pa/Bensalem)hit his team-leading ninth and 10th home runs of the season, while driving in three runs. More importantly, head coach Skip Wilson and his coaching staff are holding their breath, hoping that the injury sustained by pitcher Matt Powell (Holland Pa/Council Rock) when he was hit by a line drive on his pitching hand will not force him to miss a turn in the rotation.
The Sunday doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 12 Noon.
