5.12.03 | Baseball
In what turned out to be his final appearance in an Owl uniform, the 6-4 Caron limited Atlantic 10 Conference tournament-bound Rhode Island to one run on three hits in notching a 6-1 complete game victory at Erny Field on May 9. Caron allowed a first inning run and then blanked the Rams the rest of the way on just two hits.
Caron led the Owls this season with a 7-3 record and a 4.86 earned run average. He also led the Owls in innings pitched with 76.0. He helped lead the Temple pitching staff in setting a team-record by allowing just 41 home runs during the season. The previous mark was 45, set by the 1997 pitching staff.
Caron finished his Temple career with a 16-15 overall record. He pitched 10 complete games while throwing 247.1 innings. He appeared in 60 games and struck out 116 batters.
The Owls completed their season with an overall record of 20-27. They finished tied for fourth in the Atlantic 10 East Division with Saint Joseph's. Both teams ended the season with a 10-14 conference record.
