Temple first baseman, Rob Cucinotta, has signed a free agent contract with the Boston Red Sox. The right-handed hitting Cucinotta will leave tomorrow for Fort Myers, Florida where he will begin his professional baseball career at Extended Spring Training. The Red Sox will then evaluate which level to send him to play.

This season, as a senior, Cucinotta started all 47 games for the Owls. He broke Temple's all-time home run mark set by former Temple Owl and current Detriot Tiger, Bobby Higginson when he hit his 31st career home run, a two-run home run in the first inning of the second game of a doubleheader against George Washington on May 7.

Cucinotta finished his career tied for second on the all-time hit list with 228 hits and third in games played with 201. He also finished his career tied for fifth on the all-time runs scored list with 156 and finished sixth all-time with 129 runs batted in.
