8.29.03 | Women's Volleyball
Chapel Hill, N.C. - The Temple volleyball team (0-1, 0-0 A-10) decimated by injuries and mishaps took the floor with only one returning starter and opened its season with a 3-0 loss to James Madison at the North Carolina Invitational on August 29. The game scores were 22-30, 30-32 and 19-30.
Freshman outside hitter Jessica Waybrant (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) led the Owls with 10 kills. Junior setter Alison Runk (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) dished out 22 assists and notched four service aces. Missing in action were five of Temple's starting six as the injury bug hit the Cherry & White pretty hard before the season began.
Dana Jones and Emilee Hussack led JMU with 14 kills apiece.
Temple will continue action at the North Carolina Invitational on August 30 as it will next face Oregon at noon. The Owls will then square off against host No. 20 North Carolina at 7:00 p.m.
