VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO OREGON 3-1

Chapel Hill, N. C. -- The Temple volleyball team (0-2, 0-0 A-10) continued its struggles at the North Carolina Invitational with a three games to one loss to Oregon on Saturday August 30. After winning their first game of the season to open match 34-32, the Owls lost three straight. The remaining game scores were 28-30, 23-30 and 22-30.

Freshman outside hitter Jessica Waybrant (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysbug) led the Temple attack with 14 kills and six service aces. Senior outside hitter Liu Shu (Tianjin, China/Tianjin) had 12 kills and nine digs while sophomore Stephanie Buynovsky (Wyomissing Hills, Pa./Wyomissing) added 11 kills for the Owls. Junior setter Alison Runk (Lititz, Pa./Warwick)tallied 40 assists for Temple.

Lauren Westendorf (14 kills) and Katie O'Neil (13 digs) led a balanced attack for Oregon.

In an error filled match, Oregon held a slight edge in hitting as it hit .118 while Temple hit .105.

The Owls have little time to lick their wounds as they face the 20th ranked team in the nation, host North Carolina at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 30.
