OWLS VOLLEYBALL SUCCUMBS TO BLUE HENS

Senior outside hitters Yamit Haba and Xu Yun led the Owls with 13 kills apiece. Fellow senior Margaret Majewska (11 kills) and sophomore Stephanie Buynovsky (10 kills) also notched double-digit kill numbers for Temple. Junior setter Alison Runk had a match-high 51 assists in the loss.
Valerie Murphy led Delaware with a match-high 16 kills. Liz Ommundsen (12 kills) and Niecy Taylor (12 kills) also played well for the Blue Hens.
After winning the first two games of the match, Temple fell behind early in game three and things went all blue from there. As a team the Owls out-hit the Blue Hens .265 to .247 but it wasn't enough to stem the tide. The loss spoiled the return of Xu Yun, the reigning Atlantic 10 Player of the Year, who saw her first action in the match.
Temple will next host Georgetown on Friday, September 19 to kickoff the Kaeppa Temple Classic. Match time is 7:00 p.m. at McGonigle Hall.
