OWLS SHUTOUT HOYAS TO OPEN KAEPA TEMPLE VOLLEYBALL CLASSIC

PHILADELPHIA (09/19/03) - The Temple volleyball team (2-6) defeated Georgetown (3-8) three games to none to open the Kaepa Temple Volleyball Classic on September 19 at McGonigle Hall. The game scores were 30-20, 30-16, and 30-16 as the Owls dominated play throughout the match.
Senior outside hitter Xu Yun paced the Temple attack as she recorded a match-high 13 kills and had 11 digs for her first double-double of the season. Sophomore Stephanie Buynovsky (12 kills) was also impressive for the Owls as she hit a sizzling .526 for the match. Junior setter Alison Runk tallied a match-high 34 assists for Temple.
Annie Connor and Rachel Nelson led Georgetown with five kills apiece. The Owls out-hit the Hoyas as a team .308 to .039.
Temple will next face St. Peter's in day two of the Kaepa Temple Volleyball Classic on Saturday, September 20. Match time is 4:00 p.m. in McGonigle Hall. The Owls' match will follow a Georgetown/St. Peter's match-up scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
