OWLS CLOSE OUT KAEPA TEMPLE VOLLEYBALL CLASSIC WITH 3-0 VICTORY

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple volleyball team (3-6) defeated St. Peter's College (1-13) three games to none on September 20 to close out the 2003 Kaepa Temple Volleyball Classic. The game scores were 30-18, 30-20 and 31-29 as the Owls went 2-0 with two shutout wins for the weekend.

Senior outside hitter Xu Yun led the Temple attack with a match-high 17 kills. Fellow senior Yamit Haba (10 kills, 10 digs) recorded a double-double. Junior setter Alison Runk dished out a match-high 50 assists for the Owls.

Serra Soylu led St. Peter's with 15 kills and was the only Peahen to record double-digit kill numbers. Michal Hausfater set things up for St. Peter's and had 28 assists.

Temple out-hit St. Peter's .361 to .152 as sophomore Stephanie Buynovsky hit .600 and Haba hit .474. Buynovsky, Yun and senior Margaret Majewska were named to the all-tournament team. Joining them were Soylu from St. Peter's along with Sara Albert and Julie Grauert from Georgetown.

Next up for the Owls is a "road trip" to city rival La Salle to open Atlantic 10 Conference play on Tuesday, September 30. Match time is 7:00 p.m.
