TEMPLE FENCING UNDEFEATED AT HOME

PHILADELPHIA -- For the second week in a row, the Temple fencing team went undefeated in dual meet action at McGonigle Hall. In their last home meet of the season, the Owls beat Haverford 22-5, Stevens 23-4 and Johns Hopkins 17-10 on Saturday.
Senior Stephanie Sargent led the way for the epée squad, finishing the day with an 8-1 record. Senior Sara Forsythe finished her epée action with a record of 6-3 while freshman Rachel Eschenbach ended the day with a record of 5-4. The epée squad was undefeated in the meet, beating Haverford 8-1, Stevens 6-3 and Johns Hopkins 5-4.
The foil squad also finished the meet undefeated, with a record of 23-4, beating Haverford 7-2, Stevens 9-0 and Johns Hopkins 7-2. Both senior Nerita Brumell and sophomore Jenna Remmert completed their foil action with a record of 4-1. Freshman Leigh Adel-Arnold went 4-0 on the day while junior Jeanne Browne finished with a record of 6-0 for the meet. Sophomore Maryanne Forsythe rounded out the foil action with a record of 5-2.
The sabre squad completed the undefeated day for the Owls beating Haverford 7-2, Stevens 8-1 and Johns Hopkins 5-4. Senior Aziza Hassan and sophomore Keri Ecker paced the sabre squad with 8-1 and 7-1 records respectively. Junior Nnennaya Okoro and freshman Kaitlyn White both finished the meet at .500 with a record of 3-3 and 2-2 respectively.
The Owls will next travel to Durham, N.C., to take on Duke, UNC, MIT and Brandeis on Feb. 7 at 9 a.m.
