PHILADELPHIA - A day after sweeping the Fordham Rams, the Temple volleyball team defeated the Rhode Island Rams, 3-0 at McGonigle Hall on October 16. The game scores were 30-27, 30-20 and 30-23.
Freshman Yue Liu led Temple (9-13, 6-1 A-10) with a match-high 14 kills and added 18 digs for her fifth straight double-double. Senior Zhen Jia Liu had 12 kills and 16 digs for a double-double of her own. Senior setter Alison Runk had a match-high 33 assists and 10 digs for the Owls, who out-hit the Rams .182 to .077.
Rachel Bello led Rhode Island (8-10, 3-4 A-10) with nine kills. Setter Chelsea Wisz had 29 assists for the Rams.
Next up for Temple is a non-conference road match against the Villanova Wildcats. Match time is 7:00 p.m.
