YUE LIU'S 29 KILLS NOT ENOUGH IN 3-2 LOSS AT VILLANOVA

VILLANOVA, PA -- Freshman Yue Liu, the reigning A-10 Rookie of the Week, recorded a match-high 29 kills but it wasn't enough as Temple saw a 2-1 lead evaporate in a 3-2 loss to Villanova on Tuesday night at the Jake Nevin Fieldhouse. The game scores were 30-22, 16-30, 29-31, 30-19, and 15-11. The loss snapped a three-match win streak for TU.
Liu added 20 digs in the match and hit .292 for the Owls, while senior Zhen Jia Liu and freshman Sun Ying Liu each had 12 kills. Senior Alison Runk dished a match-high 57 assists for Temple (9-14).
The Cherry and White hit an even .200 for the match, highlighted by a sizzling .471 in a 30-16 game two win. After going ahead 2-1 with a 31-29 victory in game three, the Owls managed to hit just .083 in the final two games.
Celine Nguyen led the Wildcats (5-13) with 21 kills, while Kacy Sellers add 20. Jen Lalli handed out 51 assists.
Temple has a 10-day layoff before returning to McGonigle Hall on October 29 for an Atlantic 10 showdown with George Washington at 7 p.m.
