PHILADELPHIA - Senior Alison Runk recorded 42 assists and freshman Yue Liu delivered a match-high 17 kills to lead the Temple women's volleyball team to a 3-1 win over visiting George Washington in an Atlantic 10 Conference volleyball match Friday evening at McGonigle Hall. The game scores were 30-22, 30-24, 27-30 and 30-25. It marked the fourth straight A-10 win for the Owls which upped their record to 10-14 overall and 7-1 in league play. GW, which dropped its 10th straight match, is now 4-17 and 1-8 in the A-10.
Senior Zhen Jia Liu added 14 kills and a match-high 21 digs for the Owls while teammate Sun Ying Ling accounted for 13 kills. Ling, a freshman, led the Cherry and White with a .286 hitting percentage.
Juniors Lindsey Vernand and Shannon Parks led the Colonials with 13 and 11 kills, respectively. Sophomore Kaimana Lee compiled a match-high 43 assists.
Temple returns to the court tomorrow afternoon for its final home match of the season. The Owls will host Duquesne at 4:00 p.m. and honor their seniors, Runk, Laura Lease and Jill Fetrow, in a pregame ceremony.
