OWLS WRAP UP REGULAR SEASON WITH 3-0 SWEEP AT FORDHAM

BRONX, NY - The Temple volleyball team wrapped up the regular season and will be seeded third in next week's Atlantic 10 Championships with a 3-0 sweep at Fordham on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Yue Liu led the way with 17 kills and senior Alison Runk dished a match-high 38 assists for the Cherry and White (14-16, 11-3 A-10), who will face second-seeded Xavier on Friday at 8 p.m. in the A-10 Semifinals at Duquesne.

All three games were decided by five points or less, with Temple outscoring the Rams, 30-25, 30-28, and 30-26. The Owls hit a match-high .382 in game one and managed to win game two, despite getting out-hit .239-.125. TU also had a successful day serving, pounding out 13 aces.

Senior Zhen Jia Liu added 10 kills for the Owls. Jamee Stimson paced Fordham (14-16, 6-8 A-10) with 12 kills and Tasha Johnston added 11. Bailey McKay and Kealia Ieremia each had 19 assists.

Temple qualifies for the A-10 playoffs for the ninth straight season and faces a Xavier team that defeated the Owls twice this season. Dayton and Xavier tied for the regular season title with matching 12-2 records, but UD earns the #1 seed after sweeping the Musketeers this season. Duquesne, which earned the #4 seed after upsetting Dayton tonight, 3-1, hosts the tournament at the A.J. Palumbo Center.
