XAVIER DOWNS WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL, 3-0, IN A-10 CHAMPIONSHIP ACTION

PITTSBURGH, PA - Second-seeded Xavier ended the Temple women's volleyball season with a 3-0 victory over third-seeded Owls in semifinal action of the Atlantic 10 Championships Friday evening at the A.J. Palumbo Center on the campus of Duquesne University. 

Xavier was  led by All-Conference performer Kate Duchek with 15 kills while A-10 Setter of the Year Molly Martin recorded 44 assists in the win. Temple's Yue Liu, the A-10 Rookie of the Year, led the Owls with 11 kills and Zhen Jia Liu had 11 digs.

Xavier took a 30-22 edge in game one racking up 20 kills and hitting .444 (
20-4-36). The Musketeers fought for a 30-27 margin in the second game of the match and took the win on a Temple
blocking error. Xavier snagged a 30-24 victory in game three landing 21 kills to the Owls' 14.

The Owls, 14-17 overall, will end their season with a match at Auburn on November 27 (2:30 p.m.).  Xavier will take on top-seed and defending A-10 Champion Dayton Saturday afternoon for the title.  The Flyers defeated the host Duquesne Dukes in the other semifinal.
