VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO #22 FAMU AT AMERICAN RIVIERA CLASSIC

ORANGE BEACH, AL -- Temple went head-to-head with the MEAC Champions and #22 Florida A&M, but dropped a 3-0 match to the Rattlers at the American Riviera Classic, hosted by Auburn on Friday. Freshman Yue Liu recorded 15 kills in the match, which FAMU won 30-17, 30-20, and 30-26. The Owls will face the host Tigers, who fell to Xavier (3-1), tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. The match will be broadcast online at www.auburntigers.com.
The Cherry and White had a tough time in game one, recording only six kills and hitting .000 against FAMU's .310. The Rattlers continued to strike the ball well, hitting .438 in game two on their way to a 30-20 win. TU kept it close in the finale, but fell 30-26.
Senior Alison Runk dished 29 assists, while freshman Yan Liu and senior Zhen Jia Liu had 12 and 11 digs, respectively. Adrianna Kostandinova had 22 kills in just three games, while Tereza Arellano and Andreina Ruiz added 13 kills apiece.
TU (14-18) will wrap up its 2004 season with tomorrow's match with Auburn. Florida A&M (27-2) will take on Xavier at 11 a.m.
