PHILADELPHIA - Temple hit .400 in all three games and managed a .421 kill percentage for the match to sweep city rival La Salle, 3-0, at Tom Gola Arena on Tuesday night. Freshman Yue Liu and senior Zhen Jia Liu combined for 35 kills as the Owls improve to 12-16 overall and 9-3 in the Atlantic 10. The Explorers drop their ninth straight match and fall to 8-23 overall and 1-12 in the conference.

The Cherry and White opened up a 4-1 lead in game one and never looked back in taking game one, 30-26, while hitting a match-high .442. The loss took the wind out of the Explorers' sails, as La Salle hit no better than .158 for the rest of the match. Temple took game two (30-18) and game three (30-15) to wrap up the sweep.

Yue Liu led all players with 18 kills and added 10 digs, while Zhen Jia Liu had 17 kills and 13 digs. Senior Alison Runk dished a match-high 46 assists for TU.

Lauren Woods and Samantha Takacs each had nine kills for La Salle and Amanda Woods handed out 30 helpers to pace the Explorers.

Temple returns to the hardwood on Friday to begin the final weekend of the regular season at Rhode Island at 7 p.m. The Owls have clinched at least the #3 seed in the Atlantic 10 Championships, set to begin November 19 at Duquesne. Temple still can finish on top of the league standings, but would need two wins this weekend and help from A-10 leader Dayton (11-1) and Xavier (10-2).
