BASEBALL DROPS 15-14 SLUGFEST TO SAINT ROSE
3.10.04 | Baseball
The Owls were led by Pete Colon (Birdsboro, PA/Daniel Boone) who belted two home runs in a losing cause.
Once again pitching and some sloppy fielding did the Owls in. Temple (3-3) took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Justin Cooper (Harleyville, PA/Souderton) led off the game with a single and Jason Adamek (Eagleville, PA/Methacton) followed with a two-run homer.
After falling behind 4-2, the Owls regained the lead with three runs in the third. Cooper walked and stole second and scored on a double by Adamek. Al Roach (Medford, NJ/Shawnee)followed with an RBI single and eventually scored on an error.
After falling behind once again, the Owls regained the lead with a three-run sixth inning.
Saint Rose would erupt for six runs off loser Tim Foulkrod (Cheltenham, PA/Cheltenham) (0-1) to take a 15-11 lead although the righty was hurt by some sloppy fielding.
The Owls would close the gap to a single run thanks to Colon's second home run of the game, a three-run shot, in the eighth inning but were retired in order in the ninth.
The Owls will play a doubleheader on Thursday. They start the day at 11:15 a.m with a match-up against Mount St. Mary's and follow that up with a game against Sacred Heart at 3:00 p.m.
